    Dome lights

I have a 1999 Ford F350 Super Duty crew cab and an dome light issue---It comes on as I slow below 8 mph and goes out as I pick up speed past that. Any ideas?

Jerry, without looking at a set of schematics I have no idea if Ford ever did or does this, but I had a '71 Dodge that used the dome light on a dim glow as an indicator that the tail/brake light power was out - my fuse was blown. It did not go out with speed - glowed all the time, but back then speed inputs were pure mechanical, and it took me quite a while to track it down. You might check your tail/brake light fuse, just for grins. Again, I am not saying Ford had this feature - it's just a suggestion based on my experience with a Dodge, and I had never heard of it before.

Sounds like you have a bad door pin switch. Does it go one/off anytime you brake/accelerate?

Hey Jerry, common problem on ford trucks. The switch is built in the door latch assembly. Usually just spray liberally with wd-40 into the latch, that usually cleans the switch up and cures it.

how come it does it at exactly 8 mph???? guess while my speedo didn't work for about 4 years------after I replaced the speed sensor on the ring gear, now my speedometer works, crz works, dome lites f d up---could it have been that a faulty door switch could of been the culprid all along causing the crz and speedo not to work????

And the Ford recall about speed sensors could be door switch related??? those poor Toyota folks----wait, I got an electronic throttle too

Jerry,Far as I know the speedo and dome lights have no relation what so ever, unless they have the electric locks tied into the speedo circuit like some cars and something is shorted in the door.
I'll look thru some of my resources and get back to ya.

Jerry, looked thru some info. Majority of Ford truck dome lights problems are as I stated above. I would clean & lube the door latches and see what happens.
Other problems would be broken wires in the boot @ door hinge area.
Also water intrusion from leaking windshield on drivers side that leaks into fuse box and or GEM module. GEM module controls lots of componets such as power windows ,door locks, lights, etc.
