In a thread I was working with yesterday(on a different site) a user notified me that an intake manifold from an 1981 350 would fit on a 1992 tbi 350

    Firesign74,
I don't think so. I thought everything up to 1986 was the "early style" SBC and 87 up was the lt1 style center bolt valve covers. I do not beleive the intake will bolt on even with the mods you mention. I am not a SBC guy though. Good luck. Don Jr.

This is partly true. The four center bolts on Vortec type heads are vertical, but I don't think the '92 heads are Vortecs. It has nothing to do with the center bolt valve covers. Some aftermarket intake manifolds have slots for the center bolts, so they fit both types of head. If your manifold is aluminum it shouldn't be that hard to modify.

I have a dual quad intake that was used on vortac heads. the four center bolts holes were slotted and it had some spacers that would allow the bolts to go in at a different angle. I have not used it on those head just std heads though.

Yup, they work. Some new manifolds come with the slotted holes and spacers.
