Hood Pins on 68 Yenko camaro

I am building a 68 camaro, yenko clone. The correct hood is on, and I have purchased the Pins. Does anyone have a measurement or something to help me place the pins. I have pics of yenkos, but a measurement might make it easier on me. Basically one from the edge of the hood at the quarter, over to the whole where the pin goes.

    Tom,
Can't help with actual measurements, but here's a picture (or you may have a better picture, straight on from the front) of an original that you can scale from using your actual hood measurements - print the picture, then (picture hood edge to pin)/(picture hood width) = (actual hood edge to pin)/(actual hood width). Cross multiply and it should get you there if you can't find anything else. Also, the hood from these guys says that it has hood pin locations indented on the underside. Might give them a call and see if anyone will measure one for you?

Hi, thanks, that is a good idea. Not sure why I did not think of that, and I was far from a math major so that makes sense. Thanks again, Tom

If I remember right the metal is double thickness there. The underside of the hood is dimpled where the pins go...If you have the Yanko hood it cold be marked with a small dent at the right point. Front to back is easy they go in the core suport

You bet. I use the scaling approach on lots of things, trying to figure the right proportion placement. If you can't get an actual, or if your hood's not marked it will get you in the right ballpark. If you have a picture from a dead head on perspective that's a bonus!

If I remember correctly the hood pins were mounted in the same threaded inserts on the core support where the hood adjuster pads were (the threaded studs with the rubber pads on top that you could turn to raise/lower the corners of the hood for proper alignment). These rubber pads would touch the hood where Cffisher said the dimples were. Here's a pic of the '67-'69 Camaro hood adjuster screws and pads from Classic Industries catalog.

BTW, when we replaced the adjuster screws and rubber pads in exchange for hood pins, we would cut a piece of the appropriate size heater hose to slip over the hood pin to cushion the hood when closing and keep the hood corners at the proper height.
