    Door detent spring

     



    OK I have put these in before but its always a big hassel Any one know the easy way to install the spring in the door hinge. shouldn't make any differance but it on a 73 nova

    I used an old pair of vise grip with a flat plate welded to each jaw, crude .but works. (be sure to wear eye protection just in case ) Brian

    I always use the tool I got off the tool truck. and if I dont happen to have it I put the spring in a vise compress it and tie it off with mechanics wire. Install cut wire, pull wire out

    no they make a tool for this. i used it all the time when i did body work.still have it. same tool used to put springs in a rev kit so crane sold them and mac or snap on sold them. its steel stamp fork deal with a nut that you screw in that draws the spring down. stop by i let you use it wire is a pain in the ass the tool is the only way to go
