Buick brake drums on a Chevy?
I'm painting a '57 BelAir for a friend. It has American 5-spokes.
He was asking if the Buick finned aluminum brake drums could be adapted to a '57 Chevy? I told him I'd ask.
Ideas?

Jay, I've never seen them used on that application. Obviously, the most common usage is the early Fords. They are 12 inch and not many Chevys used that size, I don't think. You might get in touch with Wilson Welding in Texas. Bob makes some adapters to use Buick brakes on stuff and if anyone would know, he would.
One thing I did hear about recently is where a guy took an old, worn out set of Buick finned drums and put them OVER his existing drums as covers.....sort of like the covers Honest Charlies sells to cover disc brakes. That might be one option.

I tried rubber isolators between the frame and pump, but it made little difference. I don't mind spinning the motor over to refill the carb(s), it allows time to build oil pressure, jmho..
