S10 four banger in a 57 english ford

Im putting a s10 fourbanger in a 57 english ford. I don't want to use the s10 steering columb but the s10 key has the chip in it. is there a way to eliminate the factory security or by pass the security. so I can use the english ford key. I read on line that I can put a resistor in the yellow wireto simulate the chip but if I can eliminate it completly that would be better

That's a cool little wagon. Did you try your local GM dealers service dept? They might be able to help.

That chip is wired into the trucks computer system & shouldn't matter UNLESS you're using the S10 wiring harness.
If thats the case you have to put a diode(don't know what size) in the wiring harness to bypass that safety switch w/in the computer. We had to have this done on our 92 Park Ave when that wiring broke & the car wouldn't start. Our mechanic bypassed it for us....joe
