Beauty in the eyes of the beholder-the Howadrs crank
Well I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The Howards Track Smart 4340 crank came today for my 383 build.Certainly one of the building blocks towards a rotating assembly.
I am posting it here because I am wanting to be seen by you guys and I am excited/proud that I have gotten this pc. Going to have the machine shop completely check it out so I know it is 100%.
Admins/Mods-if you want to move it to the build thread after alittle bit-that would be OK.Good Bye

That is a nice piece. I bet non car types look at us like we are nuts because we look at a chunk of metal and get all goofy about it. They have no idea what they are missing.

Competition Products Jerry.58LBS.Said on the box if you balance it-you own it.It takes "H" bearings,needs a seal adapter,and a 2 pc seal flexplate.Good Bye

yep--I balanced a crank from there yesterday and another one today--
IF------you have a block(late model) that uses the seal adapter for one piece seal and you want to use a 2 pc seal crank(larger bolt pattern for flywheel) and 2 pc seal pan---I have billet alum ones that I bought from K-Tech--just in case you can't find otherwise-----

Is this going to be a race engine where you need a sfi dated one???
I don't like fluid damper but i won't go into why because it would look like i was slammin them
I like the ATIs but they are ass holes to try to get say a ford pulley for 3 bolts --they use chev 3 bolt pattern which is like .050 off so you have to machine the holes correctly
We have been using sone powermaster and bhj also

street driver.. damper the ATI are nice but you will be pulling it off to put new O rings in it. romac dampers are some of the best that do not need to be rebuilt most street stuff gets power bond or romac . the more race and all out race get ATI s i know of 3 things why i do not like fluid dampers . but i still have oneLast edited by pat mccarthy; 07-15-2011 at 09:16 PM.
