31 Chevy & Power Windows
Can't really afford a bunch of trick parts on my first restoration...but power windows seems like it would be really nice to have...so my question is...
What kits should I take a look at and which ones maybe to stay away from??
Thanks

Iv'e been pondering the same thing for my A-bone, but hate the thought of laying out money for a kit, We replace a bunch of window regulators & motors on customers cars especially after an ice storm like we had a couple of months ago so I kinda keep track of what might work and I really like the setup that the Dodge Durango uses, especially the one for the rear doors on the 4 door model, these sell over the dealer parts counter for $85 and are complete with the motor, only other thing you'll need are switches & some wiring....I'm sure your local dealer would let ya take a peek at one....

I put power windows in my 53 F100 thats close to completion because I thought it was too far a reach to the pass. window for cranks. I don't have pow. windows in my 46 coupe, and didn't have in my previous 40 coupe, no need as I can easily reach the crank handle. After the difficulty I have had getting the power ones to work well, I don't know that I will use power again. The ones I used are from A-I and are direct replacement for the original regulators. It is my only experience, so maybe of no signifcance.Joe

Got mine from the junk yard. made linkage to match the geometry of the original. Worked fine. Put the control buttons on the dash. Pass. side button is behind the steering wheel in this pic. Both buttons were easy to reach from either front seat.
Had door solenoids on the on the dash toooooo.

OK Guys--This is the closest thread I could locate concerning my query. As to rehab. of window regulators and operators my concern is the best lubricant. Lubriplate has some good qualities, however also collects much grime and dirt. Has anyone found an alternative. Thanks for any direction or advice, appreciate your time spent.

I have used Honda power units on a Model "A". They are small and work well, they easily could be used in anything. I don't know what year they were but just check out the Honda Accords around late eighties.

Those Damned Ricers are good for a lot of good lightweight interior pieces too. Comfortable seats with lots of storage drawers underneath and little power gadgets. Windshield wiper motors. Little alternators that will charge anything. Parking brake mechanisms. Door locks and handles, all kinds of little goodies. CHEAP!
And a Happy Birthday Wish for Mr. Spears. Hope you can have a great one. :)
