Got my 1965 Ranchero
It was a trip from- H. E. double toothpick....first when my plane was landing in Las Vegas he kept rolling the plane from side to side trying to get lined up with the runway. This should of been a sign of things to come. Ended up replacing the carberator, fuel pump and filters along with the dry rotted fuel line in the car. He must of just had it sittin to long and, the fuel must have went bad and plugged everything up. I could tell he recently put a new gas tank in it and he had replaced the old 260 engine with a brand new 302/2-V engine. The motor runs great just when it starts getting a vaccum from the tank after about ten minutes of running it at highway speeds it will die. Guess its just got a plugged vent line to the tank? The motor runs nice and cool, the alternator, regulator, all that stuff, along with the new radiator, does a great job. Only thing I'm a little disapointed with is I have a couple of rust holes over both of the rear tires. I need to replace the gasket in the rear end...seems to be pushing out a lot of fluid. If anyone knows where I can find some rear quarter panel or bed plates and inside lift gate plate send me the site it would be appreciated! This is OFFICIALLY now my new project car...with some sanding some paint, and some new interior this car will be awesome. Thanks for any help. Oh, by the way...it only has a 7 gallon gas tank so I had to carry 2-five gallon gas cans with me.

7 gallon tank???? It's supposed to be 20!
There might be a clue here if it's supposedly an original tank.
Here's a link from one Falcon site. http://www.loco4fomoco.com/links.htmlYour Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Thanks for the link...I knew that the tank wasn't origanal because when I got under there and looked it looked like it was brand new.

Has any one heard of some thing called sheets that is used to replace fenders or go over them then welded down. Can't seem to find fenders for the bed of the ranchero, some one mentioned sheets that are pre-formed. Does any one know about these or where I can get some. I've already found emblems, bumpers, grills, front fenders, hoods but can't seem to find the rear quarter panels for this truck.I would also like to find the bed panels and inside tail gate panels which are smashed or warped from some thing heavy being put on top of them. Also, the wheel covers on the inside of the bed are pretty well dented up. If any one knows where I can find this stuff please send me a note, or a site where I can find some of this stuff. I don't want to just BONDO the fenders in because theres no rust on the rest of the car, so I would like to have the metal fenders back to the origanal material or as close as possible. Thanks very much for any help that you can give me. -Kurt

Ranchero parts
Welcome to the world of Rancheros. In your journeys into the "junkyards" the station wagons are one of the best sources of parts. Rancheros are hard to find, at least here on the east coast, and wagons are about the same.....but don't pass one up if you see one. Washington state seems to be Ranchero heaven for some reason.....too bad it's so far from NC. If you're not familar with Dennis Carpenter Reproductions look 'em up. They supply extremely high quality Ford repro parts.....and they're only 30 minutes from me .Steve

Hey Vegas, one of the NC FCA members has a '65 and he moved the fuel fill to the inside of the bed. You know the access panel on the left rear inside? Turned that into a door and has the filler neck inside the 1/4 panel. It's really slick and cures the problem most Rancheros have of fuel "trails" down the side. When I find him again I'll snap a few pics......this is going to happen to mine for sure!Steve

Thanks for the sites streets I'll use them. Dave I don't think any body parts will interchange, but thanks for the offer. Ncranchero if you get pictures on the filler tube for the gas tank post them I would like some more info on that though, and thanks for the site,I'm gonna check it out. Thanks every one for all your help. Streets thanks for the help when I was broke down in Texas, I think he had old gas that turned bad and messed up the works. may be a plugged vent line in the tank. Which I am going to change to the biggest tank that will fit in it. thanks again

Not sure Rebel, I think the suspension stuff might be the same. None of the body parts are, though. A 67 is a built on a Fairlane platform.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Here is some good fender sites I just found.
I've sent for some catalogs so I can browse thru some of the parts list. They even have some one pice front ends. They also have sheets to repair your old fenders as well. But I will go with the full 1/4 panel replacements on all four corners, the front fenders are not rusted at all but have got lots of little dings in them and other inperfections I don't want showing up thru a new paint job. Then I will get some of the American thrust rims where the 5 point star is black and around out side is Aluminum. Convert the brakes to disc, front and back. Differant trany probably a
C-6 the old trany keeps jumping in to reverse and starts in any gear. I also want to replace the gas pedal assembly which was broken at one time and Jerry riged back togethier I'll probably go with Lokar pedal assembly with the cable instead of the oringinal pedal assembly. Just the good stuff for this baby. I can hardly wait to get this thing done. HE! HE! Oh here are those sites, I almost fergot I got so excited.
