Thanks for your help guys. I stripped it and found the rectifier pack was burned out as well. I bypassed the rectified and I could only get a couple of volts AC out of it so the stator is goosed. You put me on the right track regarding the GM part I think I have found an 80s delco alternator that has the same internals that I can swap over. Just got the brakes sorted out now. Its tough not being able to go the the wreckers for parts.
