Thanks for all the replys. Alittle back ground. I'm 64yo and have been building hotrods since 63' when I got my first car a 55' merc. Although I had a 46 gasser w/ sbc sometime ago, I have never put an FE into a 46'. Since I have the motor and trans it would appear to be the least costly way. I realize that the whole enchilada would have to go, just wondered if someone had done it . Can't bring myself to make another cookie cutter sbc in a ford. I really would like to get the flattie running but haven't had time to see if it frozen or not. I'm also working on a 41 chevy 3/4t ex-beer truck, a 60 starliner and helping friends w/ a 33' rat truck and a 57' 210. I have a 55' Merc droptop for a driver. This 46 project came along at a good price that I just couldn't turn down. I would like to get it running and take it to the Turkey Run and sell it. As my friend Don says ' shurly by thanksgiving'. LOL. Not much else other than getting it running will be needed. Thanks again. When I figure out how to post a picture here I will. JK

Ok. I yield to the higher power. Were it mine, I'd try to refurb the flattie first, though, if it was feasable. My first vested interest in a car was a '48 Merc fordor that a buddy and I went in together on, and my first own car was a '51 Ford that I rebuilt and warmed up the 8BA in, so I have a soft spot for them. I am sure we all would like to follow your adventures.Rrumbler, Aka: Hey you, "Old School", Hairy, and other unsavory monickers.

Visited a family member at Dockery Ford from the time I was 1 year old through their ownership and then ownership change to Morristown Ford. Dockery was a major player in the Hi Performance...
How did you get hooked on cars?
