Body work question
I bought a floor jack today that was near a car lot that specializes in sell barn finds/used hot rods.He has a 55 Chevy wagon two door windowed car.It has rust threw on the front door pillar by the bottom of the windshield/cowl.My question solely out of curiously is that common on those cars??. Kind like some other older cars there is a common area that normally rusts out.Is there replacement patch parts for areas like that??.Last edited by 1gary; 08-31-2011 at 10:00 PM.

any rust is common has alot to do with where it was sitting i seen covers or sitting by trees on the ground make thing rust if floors are gone then inner and outer rockers most all the time are gone lower cowl can go so it very well could be on its way but you can rebuild it$$$ as now you can buy just about any thing for them find a better front cowl clip .one of my last jobs i put all used A pillar/cowl front window surround parts in a mid year vette white glass car that was a fuel coup she had abit of rustIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

Gary! 5,6,7, chevys don't normaly rust out in that area but at times like anyother car they rust where they want. My wagon had rust in the roof area.. Welded in new steel and leaded in. The floors are what most always go had to replace mine. Rockers inner and outer ,Quarters go too. The cars are 57 years old and some really show it...I have been putting my wifes 57 wagon together for about 6 years now. Not full time. You can buy almost everything NEW reproduction for them lots of $$$$$$$ How much was he asking for the 2dr wagon. For parts its cheaper for A piller B piller C piller to buy a donner car and go that way. It is not for the meak. I bought a 57 4dr for parts. The frames on 2 dr and 4 dr are the same so there are a lot of them around.... You can buy a brand new 57 convert. for around $33,000. no drive train, trim or interior. How much you want to spend???Charlie

Ok-what I was asking about is like the bottom of the arch of the wheel well on a Monza they all rusted out around the area of the rear end control arm because it was a prefect place to collect all the junk.Good Bye

Sorry I didn't read anything about a Monza. 5,6,&7s don't really have any particular area just anywhere they choose.. Again did you notice what they were asking for it?Charlie
