    BBC Dimensions

It doesn't take up anymore space for a 396 vs a 700 CI mountain engine.I haven't hear of anyone on here building one.......I just saying now.

396 to 582 can be 9.800 deck block stock Gm block is about 512cid or abit more bigger CID a after market block but not much past 600. 10.200 block can start as small as Gm built it 366 tall deck and not much more bore with that .block .going to GM 427 tall deck not hard to go to 500s cid moving to a after market block in 10.200 your staring point can be 500 EZ and past 600 .most stop and i have built 632s then bigger can be done by moving up the deck of the block and cam for longer rods to clear the crank counter weights and moving up the cam so it can clear the rods. my 735 cid was a donovan 11.500 HC deck and 400 cam HC stands for hi cam that engine used a 5.500 crank . with stock gm spacing max bore on most race blocks is 4.625 and you could get it to 4.630 or just a hair more with custom pistons . engine s from hi 500s to 632 need very big heads and some use the big chief heads base of pro stock moving bore spacing and head and alot of $$$ gets you past 800 cid .more money then you can think of . most of my builds are stock blocks 9.800 454 block=.496 cid the 9.800 after market max 566 with a 4.250 crank this work ok but a 4.375 can be used i used this cranks in stock gm block and after market . then 10.200 most guy start at a 4.500 crank or a 4.750 to end up at 632or 638 i build some of them to most guy s like the stock deck 9.800 so stuff can fit

We do this also and as Pat says about what sizes you can do in what blocks--deck height and where the cam center line is raised to is everything--that is with the stock GM bore spacing--most mountain motors will be with bigger bore center lines

I reviewed the parts list for this ad and all the parts except the Dart block are lower quality name brands---

We build the 540-566 range Dart block engines with Callies cranks ,rods, CP pistons---the taller deck over 4.250 crank engines get Callies Magnum cranks--

Our prices for the 540-566 are currently 4428 shipped, the 632 are 5600 shipped USA.

We aren't trying to pay off any state of the art CNC equip or two 50,000 sq ft buildings--

i allways look back at a guys feed back on e bay as a engine builder i look at adds to see were i want to sell at or not jump in and play the game most of the stuff is way lower then i can build it for even if i drop my hourly rate by 1/2 and it verys works this way anyways more of a over all on the short block as to how cheap do you want to give away your work at times. i have some over head .i see adds like this to see who they are and if adds are just worlds by how many blocks has some one sold and feedback if they deal in race parts this may give you a ideal that they deal with the parts they sell may help you feel better with dealing with them if there selling hub cap and chrome wing nuts you may want a list of customer that have deal with the seller i done this .i would like you to take my word but i am more then happy to give you a list of customers that can back what i say

Well Pat their are talking about a additional charge of $250.00 for a 4.75 stroke and then call for anything beyond that without a price.........Like the 5.30 stroke to get you to the 704 CI.So who knows how much they want for that??.

Pat and Jerry, the point of this thread is me being still new here,I didn't know if any member had built one of those engines.I was pretty sure that at one point or another both of you guys had.I only posted the Ebay link to show what I was talking about.Honestly I am sorry I didn't think about what price was in it.

Still it would be cool(alittle bench racing)to see one of the old hot rods with that in it...............

my cars 50 chevy 548 blown . 66gto donovan 632 .street cars...there is more 620+ CID blocks and short blocks in my photo gallery then 396s. the 632 is a very popular build i machined and built some so i base my builds off stock GM blocks 9.800 454 to 496 lower dollar builds and after market 9.800 to 565 build for off the shelf parts the tall deck 10.200 GM 525 and after market bock 632/638 other stuff can be built but staying in this line up as its shelf parts some what the price is not as bad if staying in this line up 4.000 4.250.4.500.4750 cranks as full blown custom cranks .rods, and piston like it was 25 years ago on this stuff.i know there parts for bigger crank engines and i know alot of this stuff is made .but it still comes down to a block $$ no cheap china blocks or heads to support the700s engines . so it s china cranks and some steel H beam rods they only make .i would think about the steel billet crank but would not use the rods in a engine this big the magnum cranks are not to bad on $$ when you think about wiping out a 6000.+ block hard to think to cheap?

The 32 ford in my gallery has a 540 in it and at the same time period we did a 632 with the same injection for a 57 chev--these two were done with Hilborn electronic stack fuel injection and Fast system controllers

we do lots of the Dart block short blocks in all sizes and have a customer base pretty much all over the world except for Africa and Russia/China--we also do several 4.250 stroke OEM BBC blocks but those cores are pretty scarce and pricy. I know Pat lucked into several cores recently but he is close to the marine guys and they use lots of them--I was working a deal on 30+ blocks but source fell thru(I think they got a higher offer)

We do dozens of the LT1/4 blocks but more and more of the customers are going Dart SHP for the others UNLESS it is a date correct restoration>

Evidently Pat types faster than me!!!!
