CC intake runners-not so much
We read about aftermarket intake runners advertized intake runners cc sizes all the time.It is and isn't all that. This article I think is a interesting read that in the first place deals with drag racing heads but does apply to any aftermarket application.

cc of runner playes just as much a role in picking out a head for a street engine if not a hell of alot more then a race heads and cam must work hand in hand as your not running a strait line and max WOT most time car/truck that is not lite on weight .valve angle of sigth . short side radius . valve size . chamber size. port pinch. all play in to a good port . what is stated in that post is 101 of engine building .wet flow and flowing heads with intake on and ex tube is were most guys go . CC and flow numbers should only be used for measuring tool . i feel most power can be had just in front of the valve and in the bowlLast edited by pat mccarthy; 11-28-2011 at 02:58 PM. Yepper Pat-I think he somewhat covers that in the article.I think the controls involved in building a port based on flow bench research and then building a CNC program for the ability for duplication within 2% with 5 probe CNC machining is also important.Good Bye

yep all the big engine stuff i build is a cnc dart head there is better flowing number heads out there but there ez heads to get they can be made to work ok . sometimes heads will get flowed .i have many storys about heads going slower then they did after some guy got in there and hogged for big numbers .low speed air flow all screwed up then you have P.O.S for heads then there scrapIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip
