Thread: 34 chevy door jambs ?

my 34 3-wdw coupe is a real challange, a shell of a body, its hanging in the yard, on 2 long 2x4s. a ratchit strap is holding the doors in place, no floor, I think I have the floor fingered out, but Im wondering what to do about the door jambs. Since I already have extensive metal fab work to save the doors, better than half of the jamb is ate up or gone, my thought was to cut a jamb out of something, or just around the doorstrike, and the latch, what are some options, surely cant afford to replace them.

I don't know about grafting another jamb. Doing that may not allow the doors to fit. I gather this car is metal so I would would weld in new metal to places that need it.
If you do graft another jamb it should be out of a 34 3 wd cp.

I looked at a 34 door jamb It seems to me you could make one easly if you have or have access to a break

just fabricate another section and graft it in we use ford laser door locks over here in australia will posy some pics

Get this, I have a '35 Chevy sedan...but it's 800 miles from where I'm presently living, so I can't even look at it to try and give any advice.
I think your body is supported with wood framing, and in most cases that is largely gone. It seems that one decent way of fixing the problem is to fabricate new jambs out of metal. If you are a competent wood worker, you can replace the wood without a lot of fighting.
Try Googling for your door jamb fix...I know there is an article out there somewhere on exactly how to fabricate the whole thing using metal from scratch. Just can't remember where.

Veeeeery nice job on that frame!

I have acouple of door jams off of a 37 4 door pontiac that I was going to put on ebay. I'm wondering if maybe that is the fix for your 34. I'll post some pictures sometime today. They look like the ones pictured.

love the pic, I dont have any guts for the doors, thats why I considered fabbing some. the first thing I need to do is, what you have done in your pic with the floor, all I have is a flimsy body. would love to see some pics, of the rest. not sure where to start, or how.appreciate any info I could get, thanks.

Here is a picture of one of them. Right now they are holding my body onto the trailer. Not sure if these would help you.

Sorry don`t have any interior door structural pics but found this one on the web, this would be a left rear door from a `33..... 33/34/35 are all the same buick, pontiac, olds, all framed in wood, wood on the inside of the jams as well.

Don`t have many pics, car was sold when I was offered a good price for it as shown.
