    Lost in the sauce....

Can someone gimme the dummy proof way to tighten or adjust the rocker arm studs if i have my intake already on my Trans am. Should they be a certain torque or just tigjh enuff to rstrict the rod from spinning? I did not rotate the crank I adjusted them all at once, Could this be why my engine gets so hot so fast???

I assume that you're asking about rocker arm adjustment. Take a look at this thread, and it'll give you some directions to follow.

This is a trick question. Your engine won't run if you did what you said you did. It can't get hot if it doesn't run. You should have to replace the bent pushrods and maybe some other bent or broken parts. Then get a Chilton's or Motor's repair manual and try again when you're sober.

    Are they hydraulics or solids?

Being an 88, they would almost have to be hydraulic, wouldnt they?Oh, and streets, if memory serves me right, the oldsmobile engines were a 78 option. Your talking of the 403, I hope. Anyway, if the 403 is like the 403 in my car, they are almost dummy proof. Actually, i think the same design was used on all the small block heads for rocker arms. Wasnt it?

    slaisebam:
We need more info. What engine do you have in the Trans Am? And what yr. is it? Hydraulics would be a little more forgiving than solids. But if they were set w/engine not running maybe not, as they would probably just colapse w/o oil pressure. If they have the rocker assembly like Streets posted u just torque em' right?

Click on post reply or quote, scroll down below the text box & you will find a BROWSE button. Load a pic. off your Hard drive. I have best luck with JPG files. Make sure the pic. isn't too big. In photoshop I make them 4.5" wide and they always load fine.
