I know you won't see pictures of my leg on here, Mike!

George, just curious, and not a big deal but if you and a buddy did your power brake conversion at home why would you have the shop changing out a set of headers? Seems that the exhaust swap is pretty simple compared to the brake work, but maybe I don't understand your setup. Regardless we'll be waiting to see the "transformation" of the new pipes!!

Well first off,,I know "it's not a big deal" but it sure seems like You got it out for Me Rodger,I don't know why because
    You don't even know Me!
I didn't say I did "ALL" the install on my brakes,,My Friend has a shop in My Town and He did most of the install on the brakes{first off,His shop has a lift}and I helped run the new brakes lines and some other "small" things.
It's a the shop for the headers install because We might need to "bend" the headers to make them fit,,,most Homes don't have that tool,,,,,another thing,,,I NEVER said I installed My brake system at home did I??
NOWHERE in My post does it say I installed it at home.
If it makes You fell better,,I'm sure You are a better car mechanic than I am,,,I have an appliance business and I can fix washers and dryers like nobodies else can,,,,,what do You do for a living buddy??

Wow! Sorry I hit a nerve! No offense was intended in any way. It simply seemed to me that swapping out pipes was a pretty easy task, compared to the brake work, which you mentioned that you had done earlier. Having a shop with a lift makes a HUGE difference in either job, and is explanation enough! Added to that, having a buddy that has the shop, tools and experience is a GREAT way to do the work - learning by experience cannot be beat, especially with a mentor.

I don't think I've ever questioned your mechanical abilities, and if I have please accept my apology. As for my background, I'm a retired mechanical engineer with background in power control systems, which is probably a detriment to many projects as I tend to over-analyze or over-think things. My car building experience is limited to one vehicle, but I dearly enjoy figuring out how to do things that I've not tackled before.

I do have one of the older Maytag washer/dryer combo's (before they "went cheap") and I've been trying to get that blinkin' washer drive belt adjusted "just right" for a long time, but it still "squeaks" occasionally, making me think that another belt replacement is in my future. If only you were closer to Kansas....

I'll avoid making any comments to your posts in the future, to avoid any chance of offending you further. Sorry for any negative Karma I've caused you.

It sure does sound like it's another "bad belt" on your washer because once they get a "glaze" on them, they tend to squeak.
    Is it a side by side,or I think it's a "stack" unit,,and your right,,I do love the older,original Maytags!

I noticed that you have no support at the end of the pipe. Are you not afraid that it will crack at the collector?

When I had side pipes on my '29 roadster, the vibration from the motion of the collector eventually cracked two pipes. So when I got another set to replace them, I added a bracket on the inside of each collector for a muffler hanger that attached to the frame. My collectors fit closer to the frame than yours do so you really had to look to see it. Hopefully, you will not have the cracking issue I had. It is one of the downsides of running these kinds of headers.

I would want to have a support running from the frame to the end of the side pipe too as that is a lot of weight hanging from those small header bolts. I know to have something welded to the underneath side of the pipe will burn a small amount of chrome but if done carefully and then covered with a good zinc based paint,it shouldn't show or affect the overall look. What I can't understand is why don't the manufactures have a mounting included in the side pipes before chrome plating or coating so then the buyer has a choice of running it supported or not. We here in NZ tend to drive our cars and that means long distances so we put a lot of stress on parts of our cars that the normal trailer queen would know about. Oh I can see some burnt legs happening too on those pipes without doubt now.
