Here is a link that will answer some mig materials and wire questions. It has drop downs that cover sizes of material, solid wire, and flux. You mentioned tig, for me tig is no more then oxy acc welding without the gases, similar processes.

I agree, also ask about trade in machines.My best Bud is a welding salesman
and they take in lots of trade ins,but they are not advertised. A few weeks ago he lent me the slickest little 110 volt D.C. Miller touch start tig machine he aquired on a trade deal.He knows I've been struggling with welding the thin metal on my old coupe body and told me to try it. I was sorta skeered of it because of no foot pedal like my Econo tig. But let me tell ya hes gonna have one heck of a time rasslin it away from me now ! Only thing is it being a D.C. machine it won't do aluminum.
Getting closer on this project. What a lot of work!
