What is it called? the little resistor that controls

the voltage to the fuel gauge on a 65 ford galaxie 500

I cannot seem to find any reference on the web.

My gauge is off scale and hit or miss. Also, what does it look like? I need to make sure I am looking at the right part and check it's connections.

As far as I know it gets its signal from the fuel level sender in the tank 12vdc The sender is the ground for the circuit and positive comes from the igition sw. with the gauge in between

The 65s used regulator to keep the voltage to the guages 5V.

If you look it up on the Rock auto site open the sub catagory "electrical" and it's listed as an "instrument cluster voltage regulator". If you click on that it will open another window and there will be a picture of it. They are normallly bolted to the back of the instrument cluster.

Although this thread deals with mustangs the same applies to the Galaxies.

    NTFDAY and rspears like this.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....
