    Questions About My 52 Ford

whats up everyone i have a 1952 Ford F-1 pickup truck. im in the process of a light restoration. i have questions about the lights on the front fenders. i want to know if they came on the F-1 from the factory or if only the bigger trucks like the F-5 came with them. i was wondering if it was an option to get the lights on the top of the fenders, my dad is helping me and he wants to keep the lights there because he thinks they are original for the F-1 and because people can see your turn signal. i think its stupid to only keep them so people can see, because im not building a daily driver i want it to look nice, im not worried about factory because most of the parts are not even original. i really dont think they are and even if they are i want to take them off because i think they look way better with out them anyway as most would agree in my opinion. im 18 and i haven't seen many of these trucks around, i know there is alot of older guys on here that may know more info on this truck and many things i dont know. any advice would be great!

here is a picture of the truck, the lights im talking about are on the top of the front fenders

    NIce project PU Eddie.
I'm sure that I won't be alone in this but my thoughts are to
lose the lights on the fenders but it's your ride and you decide
Good Luck with the build - I have a '56 Jimmy that I'm working
on and old trucks are a KITA

FWIW, I would lose the cab lights too but still your call

Yeah, those lights are just plain ugly, my vote goes to leaving them on the bench!!!!

i agree! i think now would be the best time because im working on patches for the front fenders and i already have one side cut out and the other side still has the hole for the light

My uncle has a 48 F-1, and it doesn't have lights like that. Thank Gawd! Like everyone one else, and yourself.. I'd vote to leave'em in the shop drawer!.. 8-)

It looks like this truck was some sort of shop truck or used for road repairs. Either way, lose the fender lights. Many of the older vehicles did not require having these type lights from the factory.

To answer the question, the lights are an add on, and were not factory (as far as I know that holds true up thru the F6s),

Easy solution is to use the park lights under the headlights for the turn signals, but you will have to change the socket to one that will accept a dual filliment buld.

Nice looking truck by the way.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

They were a dealer installed option, sometimes they put them on the roof, too. Ugly! Lose 'em!

Your dad loves you and wants you to be safe. He feels that other drivers will see your turn intentions better with the turn lights where they are and I agree with him. Not every truck out there needs to be slick like a used bar of soap. Dare to be different. When my son got his first truck, I installed a full cage in it with 5-point belts, even though it was primarily a street truck, so I could feel better about him surviving an accident. Humor your dad and keep the lights where they are. Now go hug his neck and tell him that you love him for caring.
