    A little off course

Pat mccarthy A friend of mine has a boat(NOT CAR QUESTION) for some reason he winds up with water in the engine. It has hydro locked several times he has to pull the plugs crank it over put the plugs back in and go again. He has even busted staerter bolts off trying to start it. Last winter he had water in the cylinders when he winterized ity There are no cracks in the heads intake or exhaust manifolds. It dosn't do it all the time. I am not a boat guy so haven't a clue how to stop the water from being sucked back into the engine.

pat mccarthy ??? is it a IO ?drive. if so it very well could the flapper valve or EX manifolds could be cracked. if blocks busted you get most time water in the oil . sure heads are not busted ? water is coming in on the EX side. shut engine off filling the cylinder up with ex still open. if he did not drain the EX elbows or ex logs.from freezing .poor winterizing . silt can plug up the draining give you false read on if there any water still in block or any thing take takes in water we allways took plugs out when water stop draining poke a awl in the drain hole make sure fee and clean then fire the engine fast to blow them clean this is only done for a bump not any time so you do not burn the water pump out in drive . if she hyd locked that bad the rods very well are bent

He had it winterized last year at a marina. Went to start it and it wouldn't turn over..pulled the plugs and got antiefreez out plug holes.. I don't know how they winterized it but can't figure out how coolent got in cylinders. They must run it through the engine cause they don't get all the water out. Last time it was apart the heads & exhaust manifolds were checked. Its a 4.3 engine I/O. I think the water and exhaust go out underwater by the prop?
