351 Windosr and AOD into a 47 Ford Fordor

I will be swapping a 351 Windsor and an AOD into my 47 Ford Fordor. I'm looking around to get advice on what will need to be done to accomplish this. I know I need new motor mounts. Will the bolt on mounts from Chassis Engineering Inc work just fine? The kit is the first one on the page. page 66

And for the trans, will the kit directly below the motor mounts work? I'm not 100% positive which kit I need because I'm not near the car and cant look at it.

Any tips or advice on accomplishing all of this?

Chassis Engineering is a very reputable company, I've used some of their products on projects and didn't really have any complaints. A word of caution, however..... Nothing ever seems to be "bolt in", it all requires a certain amount of adjustment and tweaking to make things fit correctly.... Not sure if it will become an issue, but the 351 is about 1" taller on deck height then a 302 which moves the cylinder heads up and out. Could have some issues with clearance with the heads on the inner fenders, as well as routing the exhaust. Just some considerations, might want to discuss this with Chassis Engineering, I'm sure they've encountered this swap before!

    Dave,

Thanks for the info. I had someone else tell me about the clearence issue, so I will definitely be on the look out for that. Hopefully it wont cause too much of a problem. And I know that knowing is truely "bolt in". I've run across many a parts that were "bolt in", and didn't fit worth a shit. I appreciate your feed back. I'm trying to get as much feedback as I can before I actually tear the car down. I want it out by Spring. Problem is, is that it sits outside for now. Poor car. But I know that it ssaw much worse weather in upstate New York where she was originally registered, so hopefully she won't mind anothher winter outside.

I definitely plan on calling CE and having a long chat with them. I like to get some opinions, do my research, make a few calls, and then purchase. Flying by the seat of my pants and making a spur of the moment purchase has led to a bad decision or two in my younger years. Now I know better.

Well, I learned that at a young age from my Dad who would always says "Plan your work, work your plan" and other times it would be "Failure to plan on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part" and of course the good old "Measure twice, and then check one more time to be sure, and then cut it". Hahaha.

This car is very important to me. My father passed away a couple years ago, and I had a 46 at the time that I had to get rid of due to my father getting sick. Had no time for it and my cousin couldn't store it, so it went bye bye. My Dad like that car and would have loved to see it back on the road, so now that I have this one, I'm going to build it right and hopefully he'll like it enough to come down and hop in the front seat and go for a cruise one day. I might not be able to see him, but I'll probably feel whe he's there with me.

Many many years ago, I put a 390 with 3 2s and a C6 in a 47. I don't recall any sheet metal interferances. Made my own mounts so frame cutting was there. With a 351 W, it should be a snap.
