Gas tank rock guards are one of the first accessories purchased for Jeeps going off-road. I don't think you'll need it for potential damage on gravel roads, but protection never hurts if you might be going into the fields or into unimproved areas. I looked at LMC Truck and didn't see any OEM guard for your C10, but fabricating one from some sheet steel would be pretty simple, either by bending it up into a five sided box with mounting tabs to the crossmembers, or welding one from pieces.

Rear tank install is done, looking for opinions, plans are to run the filler up thru bottom of bed next to the side wall / rear stake pocket and build a diamond plate box around it, ( the bed is alum diamond plate ) whats your thoughts?

Again, unless you're planning on going off-road I don't think you'll "need" protection for the gas tank but a nice polished diamond plate box around the bottom of the tank would look great! For me it would be a matter of aesthetics, not a need for protection.

Nope, I thought you were talking about protecting the new tank from rocks & gravel - I apparently mis-read your first post where you said,
we`re not on county dirt roads...

Missed the "not", and thought you were concerned with overall tank protection, kind of like what we use on Jeeps as a necessary accessory:

Seems you're not concerned with overall tank protection, but only building a box around the filler hose? Guess I'll still stick with my answer - it's probably not needed from a protection standpoint, but it'll look very trick.... and a matching box around the tank would look trick, too!!

Now where do I order that VeloStat Hat.....

I'd do the box deal around the filler tube. Being no big fan of diamond plate think I'd do it with sheetmetal then blend it in to the box and paint it the same color as the box.... But then I don't like chrome or polished "stuff" all over a bed box or exterior, either.....

Pic of bed now, has been sinse `93...daliley driver, just got tired of the wood, looks better sense the shine went away, light scrub with soap cleans up nice. Just thought the diamond box in the corner would look better, I can do it with 18 gauge and paint I guess, just haven`t committed to anthing yet.
