Axle end play
I have an Eaton Positrac from a 1968 Camaro in my 29 Essex Coupe. I have excessive end play in the axles. Does anyone know how to adjust them. It has a tendency to pop every now and then when taking off after stopping and then turning. Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Gary

The only way I know to adjust the end play is to shim the side gears(spiders) on the C-clip side or use a cross pin with no axle relief ground on it.
Usually these rears get excessive end play because the curved shim between the spider gear and the housing gets worn away or the C-clip gets pounded out.Last edited by BOBCRMAN@aol.; 03-27-2004 at 12:05 PM.
