Shop Gatherings, Northern VA
I have posted this in the 'Events' section but making a copy here.
I have shop gathering at my shop during the winters and this Sunday, Jan 20th, is the first one this year.
There is no cost, a buffet lunch is provided (and other goodies like BROWNIES!), we start at 10am and go until we are done.
This Sunday we'll start with Dave Krolak (Nostalgia Works) anmd he will give a seminar on brake system design, componant selection, brake theory, from the pedal thru to wheel cylinder or caliper sizing.
I will do Electrical Wireing, with emphasis on the componants, proper tooling & connectors, circuit design and how to make harnesses. Schematics, devices, different kits etc will be part of the discussion
Ted Bennett will kick of the major topic, Ignition Systems. Ted will explain the actual working of an ignition coil. Carl Anderson (Early American Auto Restorations) will discuss early ignition systems and how they work, demo a 59a distributor and bring us on thru the points systems illustrating the dwell and vacuum on a Sun 504 and we may get into the sine wave as well with a spark plug rack and connect to a Sun scope.
I have yet to get confirmation on a 3rd instructor who will bring us from HEI on thru to capacitive discharge ignitions.
This is going to be a lot of fun!

I have just received confirmation that Electromive will send a staff engineer to wrap up the ignition seminar for us. John will start with the early cd type ignitions and bring it up to modern and the evolution of the coil pack ignition systems (developed by Electromotive, as used on your modern vehicle0. He'll bring some of the state of the art engine management systems, maybe give us a peek into the future of that stuff, and demo its' use. John is not a salesguy, he is a design engineer and he will let the discussions go to wherever they go for as long as we want.
