Depends on what brakes you're running front & back, and how they're working for you. If you find you need to bias the brake pressure to keep from locking up the rear brakes first Summit has several different proportioning valves, like the single in, single out that you could mount in the common line going to the back to choke back on them a bit - Brake Proportioning Valves - SummitRacing.com If the MC is on the firewall or under the dash, above the wheel cylinders, then you don't have to worry with residual valves.Roger

First I would get rid of the single port master cylinder, they are not very safe.

so you would spend 30-40 to put in an portioning valve but not 40 to do a dual outlet master???????????
Drum brakes are sort of self engerizing---you don't need a portioning valve---If your vehicle has tendencies of errattic braking in the rear, like locking up when loaded lightly, you could put in smaller wheel cylinders, however, most likely the problem is because the fronts aren't doing there job ----------Last edited by jerry clayton; 02-02-2013 at 10:43 AM.

Jerry jumped in before I finished typing. Not sure which part of the answer you're referring to as being too expensive (swapping to a dual MC or the proportioning valves referenced from Summit), but brakes are the place where you're very literally betting your life on the equipment you run. That's the place you want to have 100% confidence in how they'll work. You can buy a new dual MC for less than $75, and likely less than $50 if you shop. Good luck on your build.Roger

I just jumped on the local NAPA on-line site and looked for a basic chevy MC from the late 60's early 70. You're going to need to pick one based on the specifics of your set up on the truck, wheel cylinder sizes, or especially if you have disc's in front or all around? Depending on your system you may spend a few bucks more, but not much unless you've got some special stuff.Roger
