Best 1/8 is 4.56@150mph on Akly with a very brief shot.

See, your catching on. Anybody taking a shot of "Akly" while driving would feel like your doing the eighth in 4.56. Here in So Cal that's called bar hopping.

And for those of you that gave a serious answers to the original question I apologize for these little rained on detours. Your input was truly appreciated! Thank you once again.

    Naw ya silly.Shot of nitrous.LOL.

MSD all the way for what your asking.Call them.Yrs ago in M/P with a tunnel ram it was Mallory.36 total with a lock box MSD or a switch to turn off dizzy for start up on a locked dizzy. All in at 2500 rpm.Braced starter for sure for kick backs.I'd think 500's max for carbs.Don't fall for the 390's trap.Their too small.

Keep on top of the read for the plugs.Carbon-ed plugs are throw aways.

Got my call back from white performance this morning and that distributor is a no go... Just too big. So they do have a Mag fire set up for the hotter cams and 350 hp+. It takes a separate box but what the heck. Ill find some where to mount it where its not too unsightly. Oh and they suggest the MSD 6a or 6al spark CDI box thingy.

If you decide on the mallory unilite, ensure thatit is grounded well to the block or it will blow the trigger eye out of it, 80 bucks gone....

    Good stuff.... thanks guys.

So my first real post on the site and thanks again guys for the helpful info.... well except for that one guy? It's always amazing to me how you can ask one simple question and some guys just have to editorialize and tell ya all just how much your wrong and it's a mistake, and on and on and on. On one of my very first posts here it didn't take long to see who would be helpful with good info. and who would be the stumbling block who just likes to hearing themselves giving good advice... according to them! I took the time to do some looking around as this behavior often seems to be habitual. It took me one whole thread to see that my hunch was right on and this was a woe me guy.

    Definition of Trolling...

Trolling is the act of posting a comment or article in an open publishing forum that is intended to provoke and disrupt the discussion of users by producing a large volume of frivolous responses (Bond, 1999). The content of such a post may consist of a foolish contradiction of common knowledge, a deliberately offensive insult to the readers or a broad request for trivial follow-up postings (Bond, 1999). The person who participates in trolling is termed a troll.

1gary... Im here to have a good time with people that don't think of themselves as the last word on any subject. I don't come here to be lectured to by a self absorbed personality. I didn't come here to goat anyone into seeing a picture of an non existent car? Im brand spanking new here and I already cant stand your style.... So now I'm wondering what the heck have these other guys been putting up with and for how long? You might be the coolest cat on the planet, you might have the best intentions in the world, but that isn't what comes across on the computer screen! I don't know you at all but I would politely request that if you ever answer another one of my threads that you stick to the topic at hand. Im sure you have a lot to share but no one wants to hear the Hot Rod Gospel according to gary. I smiled when I read your first post to this thread and said to myself... Oh great, one of these guys! I played your game for the whole thread and was going to let it go and forget it. Then I saw what you wrote on your "Woe Me" thread that you started after this one.

"Goated me into a direct violation of a partnership agreement not to post pic's of our race car in the tunnel ram thread in the shop section..."

Sorry Pal but nobody would require a confidentiality clause on a go kart like that. Maybe that is the reason nobody has seen it till now? Have you ever in your life known anybody who doesn't want their car looked at? Are you serious? Are the stickers are that car not to be seen? Dude you should be embarrassed pulling a joke like that on a national forum! Anyway Id suggest if you cant legally talk about "Your Car" that you don't! I'd hate for your good friend to sue you after some 40 years of friendship! Im done here and will never bring this up with you again. I would appreciate you staying on track on any of my future threads and please no more PM's from you as I dont respect your opinions. By all the fan mail I received via p.m. about you Im really suprised you haven't figured it out long before now. We truly are the ungrateful ignorant underlings to you aren't we? Thanks Buddy

If the mods would like to close this thread it might be a good idea? Your call...

I see no reason to close the thread. I, for one, would like to hear what distributor you end up with, what ignition makes it work, and how you make the tunnel ram sing. You asked a very simple question, and as you've said you got a considerable amount of extraneous information along with some good leads. I'd like for the story to continue, and I hope that the thread continues.

A few outdated pics of it in storage. If I can get the camera out of the shop in the next few days I will post ups some current pics.

This was taken years ago as the shop was being painted
