    Thumbs up engine swap

I am new to this group, I have a 53 custom built studebaker commander with the factory v8 in I also have a 66 barracuda with a 440 with all the goodies. Will the 440 fit the stude or I want something diffrent everybody throws a sbc in not me. I have the 727 custom trans,8.75 rear with moser heavy axels to swap if needed. I guess the question is will the 440 fit without alot of mods. Thanks

    Hey Custom53, welcome to CHR!!!

I'm certainly no expert on Studebakers, 'Cudas or engine swaps but I think they're all pretty cool!! Anything can be swapped into anything if you have enough time, money & tools.

I applaud your choice to do something different than the SBC! I'm sure some guys who actually know what they're talking about will come along shortly but in the meantime, I'd say get out the tape measure, pop the hoods on both cars and start taking some measurements. Also, maybe post up some pics of the 2 cars. We like pics!!!!

    Welcome!!!

Like Randy said........measure.........that 440 is wide motor. Although with a big enough hammer and lots of money you can make anything fit.

Times 3! Break out the smart stick (aka tape measure) and see what it says. A stude without a SBC will be a treat and a welcome change.

Of course you realize that should you undertake this build we will require pics with constant updates!

And welcome to the club! Hope you stick around and share your project(s) with us.

Lots of Studies at B'ville had Hemi's in them, a 440 should fit.
