    Cool My 55s alive

I fired up the rebuilt 351 in my 55 for the first time tonight,it has no exhaust but sounds good except for a little miss in one cylinder but I hope its only a plug or a bad wire. It moved forward and in reverse so it looks like the junkyard trans might be good,i only had a couple of small coolant leaks and it did not overheat while breaking it in so I hope everything is in order. I have to pull the distributor out as it needs to be moved a couple of teeth as its turned all the way to the thermostat housing, going to fix the little things tomorrow and maybe go around the block and see if the trans shifts and how good the brakes work and start working on the trunk floor so I can take it down to the exhaust shop and quiet it down a little so I can check for motor noises.

Nothing like starting up and engine that you worked on and have it run OK. Hope everything else is the same.

The little miss turned out to be the gap closed on three plugs,it had me worried but I regaped them and now it runs on all 8. I think it was my friend that was helping me,he installed the plugs on that side. If its nice tomorrow its time for a trip around the block.

Yea, but he meant well, right??? I'm droolin' with all these stories about rods' comin' outta the shop this spring. That's o.k. tho. I need the incentive. I remember the first time out in the spring after a winter of wrenchin' .......Purdy Kewl..... Happy motorin'

    I feel your pain..........
To get mine out of the shop I would have to take the lag bolts out of the concrete floor and jack up the jig ..... then slide the wheels on the jig rails, then puuuusssshhh it out the door. HE HE HE
Oh.....Then I would have to puuuusssshhh it back in and spend all time messin' with the levelin' screws to get it all level again.
