Chevy 454 and Buick 455 engine swap.
Does anyone know if the bolt pattern on a big block Chevy 454 and a big block Buick 455 are the same for trany and motor mounts???
And will the trany converter's inter change???

Not sure about the motor mount placements, but I'm sure the bellhousings are different. That's why there are Chevy bellhousings and BOP bellhousings.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

The dowel pins and lower bolts are the same pattern--upper bolt pattern differs

So much for the swap then I'll just rebuild the 455.
I thought if it was a simple swap I would just order a crate engine,
I don't want to get in to changing everything else.
Thanks guys.

When I do rebuild it Pat, I will install Edelbrock heads, intake and a nice roller cam.
Probably eagle H beam rods like I have in my cleveland and new pistons probably SRP.
It's not gonna be crazy, just something that will pull hard to about 5,500 rpm's.
Shift kit in the trany for a crisp shift and leave the gears alone.
It will be for highway cruzin since I am about 100 miles out of Vegas.
Just want it to look good sound nice and run like a rapped ape on the highway.

well it can be built but you do not want to hear it... but other then a plate and making things work AC and other stuff the 454 out to a496 would be less money then the 455 BUT....there is things you must do to the block to get any life out of them you should to use the T/A dur bond cam bearings or rework the block or the cam bearing will fail a long with the crank prep and drilling oil gallerys out in the block. roller cam for a buick as a hard $$item$$ ...but happy to send you a bbc if neededLast edited by pat mccarthy; 08-14-2013 at 08:31 PM.

I've built a few Buick's before and had good luck with them. I used a Doug Nash shift kit in the Buick trany before, it had 3 different kits in it I always used the med or middle one for a solid crisp shift with improved fluid flow. You really can't tell you have a shift kit even in it unless you are really standing on it, Tech. Like I said it's not gonna be anything crazy, just a little better or above the stock with better parts though. Ya them roller cams are pricey I know, But I am used to dealing with old Dodge's and Ford's them ain't cheap either. Maybe I'll be able to work out a deal with Edelbrock when I get the heads and intake intake. Made a good deal like that with Luntui on a special grind by General Kinetics Camshafts for the Cleveland, I think it was $2,700. It included Springs, locks {Titanium}, Valves, roller rockers roller lifters, the big push rods I think 3/8, guide plates and camshaft, screw in studs, breakin lube might have been a timming gear as well. Oh they thru in some engine screens for the oil galley and a distributor gear. Love the way them old Buick's glide down the road like there floating on air, just a good riding car. I had the 69 Le Sabre before, that was a good riding car too. I've been planing on talking to you in a couple months Pat after I get my Ford sport custom painted and sold. Got to much on my plate right now,but working on several deals. Working on 5 vehicles that will all be for sale soon.

Thanks Pat; I have to do some research, right now just waiting on my catalog.
Plus I got a bunch of VA appointments coming up so I'll be busy running back and forth to Vegas.
I got fitted for 2 knee brasses a couple weeks ago and I am supposed to go get them fitted the on the first time.
If my health and the weather hold's out a little longer I might get something done.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
