OK, you're being much too forgiving with them, and that's total BS. You don't send a body back to Bebops to have door handles put on, you drill two holes, mount the handles and then align the latch bolts, drill and install them. That's maybe a half day job if the guy hasn't done them before, but instead you spend the money to truck the body back to BeBops in Tennessee? That makes zero sense, and they're playing you like a Redfish on a long line. It's time for you to demand your money back, and if they balk tell them you're contacting your attorney to take action in court. Once you have your money in hand call Duane Noblett at N&N Fiberglass reproductions in Belleville, AR and get your order in with him. He's honest, has about the best value premium roller you can buy, and you'll not be disappointed. Time to fish or cut bait.Last edited by rspears; 01-22-2014 at 03:56 PM.

I've stayed out of this thread as it seems there are enough opinions in here already but I guess, just maybe, my cynicism just needs to scream BULL _ _ _ T!!
If I were in your shoes, I'd be contacting a lawyer and right now! Don't wait 2 more weeks, hurry to get some of your money back.
And then take RSpears advice and contact a reputable shop.
Now, I could be all wet and full of it, etc.. etc.. etc.. but I'll bet dollars to donuts I'm not!

I agree with rspears & 34_40, if these guys can't put a set of door handles on, I wouldn't trust them to build a complete car!
I don't see this ending well.

The more I think about this the more I'd say Shine was right on with his thoughts, these guys are in a financial bind, using the down payment from one guy to fund finishing another guy's car. That can work for a while, provided the demand stays high and the cash flow keeps up, but they likely have gotten pinched by the falling economy and their orders falling off. There's not that many guys/gals that will drop $20K for a roller package, and fewer that will lay down a $10K down payment on nothing but an empty promise. It's hard to know, but the story they fed you may be their death knell, and it would not surprise me if your message next week says that you went back to Lula, GA and found their doors locked, or that they are in bankruptcy proceedings trying to cut losses. Regardless I think that you need to talk to an attorney and get on record with them that you're demanding a full refund based on their blatant failure to meet their contract obligations. Big thing on a lawyer, it will have to be a lawyer licensed to practice law in the company's home state as that's where the litigation (if any) will occur. About all a local lawyer can do is issue threats....... Learned this the hard way when an out of stater dumped an NSF check on me years back.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I'd be getting my stuff out of that shop, asap. If they are fiddling the books trying to make up for a shortfall it is very possible they have royally screwed somebody else. You can see and touch your downpayment - a rolling chassis at the least. If another person sues and takes them to court then your stuff might get bound up in litigation, if you can't prove it is yours then it might get sold by the courts.
It is all conjecture at this point, I really really hope that it don't come to pass and hate to hear of things like this. But, they have given you good reason to worry, you aren't satisfied with the progress, the quality of what work that is done is in question and they have lied to you.

Finally got the call today that my car is ready to be picked up. Pretty excited about it even if I had to wait a ridiculously long time. Going to pick it up next week, so as soon as I can I will post pictures. How many posts do I need?Donnie

Well it looks real good now and you have a great engine. I had a good experience dealing directly with Bebops who drop-shipped a frame and front axle so I outsourced the welding of the spring mounts for a '74 Maverick 8" rear. It took me 7 years to finish a 'glass 29 roadster and along the way I found some excellent help and some other unhelpful folks. The problem is that you can't always tell who will disappoint you even if you check references. The only sensible thing is to not go back to troublemakers and do as much yourself as possible. However you will soon find that there are almost no brackets on the interior of a Bebops 'glass body. I must have made 20 or so brackets from angle iron along the way and a rat tail file will be indispensible for lining up mounting holes. However you now have a great start and it is looking good to here.
