'56 Chevy hood jammed shut, any ideas/insight?
Just picked up a '56 Chevy 210 wagon. It has billet grille with VERY narrow spaces between the bars. The previous owner used a paint stick to open the hood. That is not working and I can't get in there to see what is holding the hood shut. Any ideas or "been there, done that" solutions?
Thanks

Got it... The hood hinges are pretty much junk and they are letting the hood come to far forward when it is closing. I lifted the front edge of the hood while my wife worked the back corners up. That freed up the latch and hood popped open. After it was opened I moved the latch rearward about a half inch and now it works great!

Mark, maybe if you lifted the front edge of the hood and had your wife work the back corners up, the hood would pop open. My best guess is that the hinges are pretty much junk. After you get the hood up, move the latch about a half inch to the rear and it should work OK.
