Sheet Metal Question???????????
Sheet metal question.
I need gen. 2 quarter panels. I'm looking for the full panels.
Classic Industries has them. They are advertised as "GM restoration parts" and OER (Original Equipment Reproductions) both of which are supposedly among the better repro. companies? Down side is they are in California, I wonder about shipping sheet metal without incurring Dings n' stuff
There's D&R Classic Automotive. they have them too but they don't advertise a brand name? I'm thinkin' (Beware). They both cost about the same. Up side is D&R is within driving distance for me. Warrenville IL.
Question is. Has anyone had any experience with either of these companies with quarter panels? I've heard some horror stories about quarter panels that had to be butchered to be made to fit. I don't want to get into the butchering business."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

Pro i cant say that i have any experiance with D&R but as far as companys that offer sheet metal without mentioning the name......
We also have a company like that here in michigan they are called sherman&associates and they offer sheetmetal at a few bucks less than the "good stuff" like real GM parts or parts or metal from danchuck or year one or the such.
I have ordered parts in the past from the company i just mentioned and to be honest i will NEVER order any fenders or any metal from them again. The metal is thinner and has "dings" in it to begin with and back in the early 90's i had to go to the compant and have them search through a number of fenders till they found one that didnt have dings in it before it even left the building (again becuase of the inferior metal)
Not to mention the pains i had with gettin the fenders to fit right.
I cant say that the company you mentioned is like sherman's but if they dont say the brand i would BEWARE....you may be askin for a major headache
I would order the steel you know is quality and check it for "shipping damage" before you sign for it.
and......HEY what are ya doin orderin steel for a drag car.......no fiberglass??

Hey Pro, along with the ones da Goat mentioned, there is also a company in Central Indiana called The Paddock and another named National Parts Depot that has a warehouse in Michigan. I have used parts from both and been reasonably pleased with them.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I think the only thing that the law would be concerned with would be the windshield. As far as the back and side (door) windows i am not posative but i dont believe theres anything in the law books for most states about them (back window on convert's are plastic) so i dont think that would be a big concern.
I'm mounting my door windows with dzus fasteners so i can put them on and off easily.Somewhere out on Woordward ave. cruzin!

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
