running electric fuel pump to carb??
Here's my problem, I'm puttin a small block in my s-10, it's carburated, and I want to use the stock hi pressure fuel pump.
I ordered a fuel pressure regulator, Holley Part# 12-803, It has one inlet and two outlets, It says to block off one of the oulets if it is not being used. If there is no return, would that not be kind of hard on the pump? is there any other alternative, other than going mechanical/ dropping the tank? I'm being lazy here, its a new pump that's in it, than and I'm going broke real fast, the regulator was the cheaper alternative, compared to the others.
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.I've got the itch to lay some rubber down!!! ~Thanks grampa! its been 10 years worth of work, I just wish you could see it~

Sorry, I forgot to add to my question, should I maybe be buying a fuel regulator with a return line so as not to burn out the pump?I've got the itch to lay some rubber down!!! ~Thanks grampa! its been 10 years worth of work, I just wish you could see it~

Your really taking a risk, even with the regulator, did you know that some of those stock intank pumps can produce up to 50psi??
Your carb, say it's a Holley For example, Only like 4-7psi, and even if you have a 1040cfm race carb, they can only do about 14psi +, As a matter of fact, your press. reg. may not even be able to handle that pressure, as they mostly come with the Holley blue fuel pump capible of only 14psi, really your best bet is to eaither get a Holley RED pump (4-7psi), its about $90 last time I checked, and disconnect the stocker, or go mechanical.......... Other wise your risking blowing out your carb.

Slammd, if you have a high pressure fuel pump then you should also have a return line to the tank. Connect the extra opening in the regulator to your return line. That should help to compensate for the additional pressure, but still not sure the Holley regulator will handle it.
