    700 R-4 Fluid Leak

I've been chasing a trans fluid leak for some time. It was never very much until lately, but it was always there. There was a puddle under the car every day, and enough fluid under the car that I couldn't pinpoint the leak, so I decided to change my sheetmetal Derale pan for a cast aluminum pan. I'm sure it was leaking, but what I found while after disconnecting the shifter mechanism and dropping the pan surprised me.

I noticed that the electronic speedometer sending unit was covered in trans fluid, and that the center of the drip was right below it. I removed the sender to have a better look, and found that the speedo output fitting had a hunk knocked out of it. I ordered a new one which will be here Saturday.

Geez, I hate leaks . . . and I hate chasing them down even more.

That one may get you your Dick Tracy Detective rating, Jack! Doesn't look that bad, but it's most of the sealing surface at that point, right?

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Nothing like a good little oil leak to make your day. Finding them can be a challenge sometimes so good for you on locating it so quick..

    Or... did you??
