    1967 chevelle ss with a 327 with a 3959512 casting number

I haven't had much success finding out very much info on this engine. For the most part I believe it is stock. There is a holley 650 cfm double pumper 4777-2 and a weiand mid rise intake on it. I'm curious as to what I should do to this engine (headers, heads, cam etc) just to add HP because I don't drive this car except to have fun. Thanks.IMG_20150119_165304.jpg

Fairly heavy car, needs cubic inches to really have fun. Build a 383 or 406 for it.

Welcome to CHR! Nice Chevelle! Like techinspector1 says it's not a lightweight, so it really depends on how much you want to spend, and how much fun you're talking about. You'll probably get a bit of noticeable performance increase from a set of good headers made specifically for your setup, one of the old line main brands, but before I put very much money into the 327 I'd look at boosting the engine size, or even going to a later model takeout engine, tranny and electronics from a newer Camaro or ??? The old adage is even more true today...

Save the 327 for something else or sell it to someone doing a restoration. 350 blocks are easy to come by, and 383 rotating assemblies can be had for a very good price. And with the additional cubic inches, you don't need a big cam to produce hp and torque. You will love driving your Chevelle with a 383 under the hood. The same goes for a 406, but good 400 blocks are getting hard to find.
