just purchased '46 chevy p.u.and need illustrations for sheet metal assembly. truck is complete basket project and I need to figure out what I have and have not. project plans are for keeping original appearance but hotrodding drivetrain,suspension,brakes,steering etc. anyone have suggestions for illustrations?

First of all, WELCOME, to the Forum - - - - as far as Illustrations goes, my question is Illustrations of ?WHAT? Here's plenty of pics of other's builds.

Check out LMC Truck in Lenexa, KS on the SW of metro KC - Chevy Truck Parts & Truck Accessories for Chevrolet Trucks from LMCTruck.com They've got lots of illustrations, and even better they're a really good source for all things OEM Truck! It's the truck division of the Long Motor Corporation, which I think started as an importer for British sports cars.

My buddy did a 46 GMC PU.. biggest problem is the lack of easily accessible parts. Seems the "aftermarket" for GM trucks begins at 1947. There is some stuff around but not like the 47 and newer trucks.

just tried lmc but they only go back to '47. there was an exploded view of front end sheet metal but couldn't find out if it would be same on a '46.thanks

41 to 46 was the same body style, 47 started a new design.

But GM kept the same body for the war years. Chevy and GMC had a differing grille and hood.

Welcome from Central Iowa. I am not any real help for a parts break down, but I did find 2 41-46 chevy trucks sitting at Doug's 4 wheelers in Pella Iowa last monday.
