Kumho tires
Anyone have any experience with Kumho tires? From their website they are a Korean manufacturer with some 50 years in the business. The latest Wally World add I received via email lists a number of their tires on sale in many 14 and 15 inch sizes.
My 76 Vette has 235/60/R15 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's on all four corners and they are worthless especially if the pavement is damp. I'm thinking about going to 245/60 on the rear and 215/60 on the front. Any opinions?Ken Thomas

Ken, I can't offer any personal info, but on TireRack there's almost 12,000 reviews for Kumho tires, segregated by specific models. Might be a start - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/review...tireMake=KumhoRoger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I skimmed a few and the results are varied. I would never put an 80,000 mile tire on the Vette as it's been my experience that as the mileage factor increases handling decreases. I'll probably go with T/A radials. ThanksKen Thomas

Ken, I don't have first hand experience with them, but a lot of guys in the late model performance car world seem to like them a lot. That being said, your comment about wet weather performance is something to be mindful of. The P-Zero tires on the Boss Mustang have that issue too. They are a high performance tire that in warm, dry weather stick like glue to the track................but the rubber compound is not tolerant of wet or cool/cold. You've got to dig some in the reviews of these things to find folks who've paid attention to that sort of thing, or find a "professional" performance review where they address all weather performance.
Edit: I was going to add further, but the server took one of it's semi-frequent dumps and now I've lost the train of thought........................I'm waving as it pulls out of the station........Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 04-07-2015 at 07:59 AM.

i have a set of generic kumos on my truck. they make them for discount tire. it is a 3/4 so not really a good comparison but i've heard good results on them from vette people. for cars i'm a michelin guy . my bride has around 85k on a set that we will likely replace this summer. good ride and good in wet weather .

I've ran a lot of Kumho tires on medium sized cars and light duty pick ups and had really good luck with them. They even make class 8 truck tires and they last and work well too.Ryan

I have " Koomoo's " on the back of my T Roadster and the only fault I have found with them is they don't smoke up too much when I hit the go pedal.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.
