    Question Custom interior

I have decided to redo the interior of my car but I dont really know what I'm doing and before I get into anything too big I want to make sure I can do it right, the first time. Its not a hot rod or anything , its a 99 Chyrsler Sebring Convert. I want to redo the interior in white and give it my own personal touch but I dont have any idea where to start looking. I want to use suede and leather. If anyone could help me out here with suggesting a How-to book or site I would greatly appreciate it.

Do a google search for leather or suede upholstery and a bunch of sites will come up

You have to learn to work with fabric before you can try to do leather upholstery..(suede is unfinished leather) If you can't already run a sewing machine there's not much chance of doing a leather interior right the first time. You'll also need an industrial sewing machine with a walking foot. If you're lucky you can find a used one for around $800 to $1000. I don't know if there's a site to tell you what to do. It usually requires taking some courses at a community college. Or working as an aprentice at an upholstery shop.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunatly you guys said exactly what I didnt want to hear. I was hoping there would be some way to do it myself without having to make it such a big investment, but o well. I'll have to put it off sometime for the future when I get out of college. This just means it one more thing I'll have to put put off for when I build my first hot rod.

There are companys out there that make seat covers for your car that are pre-made and you take the seat out yourself and indtall them. I am not sure which they are, I have seen it mentioned on tunervision on Spike TV on saturdays and CCR on Speed channel. You may try thier websites on thier network sites, they may mention something there. I do know that they exist though and they are not that high cost either.

Most aftermarket upholstery kits are for old Fords or Chevys. Most of those are duplicate of the original upholstery. I don't think there's a market for 99 Sebring seats so they won't be available.
However when I worked for a Chrysler dealer I reupholstered some seats in a car that was vandalized. They got the upholstery from the factory. I don't know how long they stock this stuff but you should check with the parts department at your nearest Chrysler dealer. They might be able to get it in leather.
J.C. Whitney sells vinyl upholstery kits for most cars but not leather.
