    Dash pad re-cover

Is there any method to re-cover a dash pad, reasonably attractive and cost effective?

I had thought to replace it, but after seeing the co$t I'm looking for alternatives.

Tried this several times on different vehicles, I successfully covered a dash pad on a VW once, I also tried on 71 Chevy pickup, 65 mustang & a 72 Chevelle & a 81 Chevy pu to no luck, there are several vinyl repair kits out there that can be used with a matching "grain thingy" that looks ok at best and it will still need repainted if its just got a small crack, usually on our old vehicles the crack is gaping open like a open chainsaw cut on a leg and your stuck with replacement. There are the carpet covers that look like the floor on the dash, other than that they are ok. Best thing probably is watch ebay for a repopped from a reputable supplier and grin & bare it!
