    Serial numbers on motor

I've taken a 235 motor out of a 39 Chevy I know that the original was a 216. By the serial # is there any way of telling what it came out of.

yeah, you can find out a lot by just looking at your engine numbers. I would find out what they are, then look for an engine number decoder on google. Thats how i found out that my 74 nova actually had a 72 350 in it. :P

    good luck
