On a TH700R4 (or th200R4) the TV cable is ESSENTIAL to the survival of the transmission. Failure to hook it up will cause your transmission to burn out in no time flat. It controls the "pressure" of the valving inside the tranny, which controls the "grip" of the bands. Failure to connect the TV cable is a very serious problem.

I recently finished an S10 with a TH700R4, we kept the original 2.8 but hotrodded the heck out it. At first the TV cable was overlooked and the truck absolutely felt like it had no power at all. Then the TV cable was noticed as never being connected, it had slipped down and was hiding between the bellhousing and the firewall and was simply overlooked.

Here is where I learned most of what I know about how the TV cable operates with the transmission: http://www.tvmadeez.com/article/index.html

They also make a kit to adapt your stock cable to most aftermarket carburetors.. http://www.tvmadeez.com
