    Squeaky Mustang II A arms

I have TCI Mustang II kit on my 53 and I can't get those stupid bushings to stop squeaking, it drives me nuts in town. So far I've taken them all apart and tried just regular grease, then later anti seize, then I've tried straight silicone and nothing lasts to long. It's quiet for about a week then squeaking like crazy again. Is the next step putting grease zerks in them?

Another reasonable source of info and product: polyurethane lube

One other site has some shaky info when it says something along the lines of; "...don't use a petroleum based grease, use a lithium based grease................" Whoever wrote that, if they said what they mean/know, doesn't know anything about grease. Probably 99% of the lithium "based" greases have petroleum derived oils in them, the oil is the lube, the lithium the thickener (which has virtually no lubricating function).

The fix is to use rubber instead of poly in the first place.

I guess I should have mentioned, they are rubber bushings. I was going to order poly ones then I read that squeaks were a big problem with them. I'm thinking about just replacing them all, The next time I take them apart will be the 4th time and it's really not that fun. Were did the stuff you recommended go Denny, I see it's gone ? I was going to give that one last try.

Were the A arm fasteners tightened while hanging or compressed suspension?

Back in the days that ford brought out the suspension tech that was in the intermediate vehicles( cars smaller than Glax ), they had severe problem with sqeeges in the front ends and was due to stuff not being tight enough-there was a time when the dealers would check/tighten all the bolts ANY time a car was in the shop for anything--------

For poly bushings, Energy suspension has this to say:

What kind of grease should I use before product installation?
Answer: We recommend Energy Suspension's Formula 5 Prelube. This is included in most kits which require lubrication and additional Prelube may be purchased from your local Energy Suspension authorized dealer. If you are unable to use our Formula 5 Prelube, we suggest using a synthetic, water resistant marine-grade grease for optimum lubrication and retention. Energy's Formula 5 Prelube may be purchased in bulk for commercial shop use.

Have you considered Teflon or graphite spray?

I have them in the resting position when I tighten them. I slide the bushings out and lube everything that moves and everything that doesn't move. It seems like the most squeaking is coming from the top of the arm where the washers and the rubber meet. If I loosen them up the squeak seems to go away, I like to have tight bolts on my suspension for the road though. I have not tried Teflon or graphite yet though.
