Borg Warner T 10
Hi all,
Was Searching for T-10 info when I came across this Hotrod site.
Pretty Kool.
So seeing as how I haven't found my answer by googling for hours, I'll ask here.
I recently purchased a 66 Mustang, V-8 289 , 3 speed.
Looking to put a 4 speed in it.
Ran across a T-10 , its an older one , cast iron.
Anyway the guy selling it says it came out of a 68 Ford passenger car.
He had planned to put it in his Chevy,,,BUT!!!! the front spline seems to be too short for his Chevy, its length is 6 1/2" from front of case to end of shaft.
Does my Mustang use this size length front spline shaft???
Thanks to any one with the answer...

First, welcome aboard, it's good to see you here.
I don't have an answer to the measurement question but, can he give you any of the numbers from the case? Or maybe a tag might still be attached?
If the numbers start with a C4 / C5 / C6 then it could be a ford trans. It might look like C5AE or something like that.

Welcome to CHR:
I love the 66 Mustang - one of the nicest looking ever made in my opinion. There are a lot of Ford guys here (I'm really a Chevy guy when it comes to hot rods) - drive Fords and build the Chevy.
Not to bust your chops, but have you thought about upgrading to a modern 5 speed? This site will walk you you through all the components necessary for a successful swap:

Yes, it's an investment but you have a new, well designed transmission and don't have to mess with 50 year old parts that have been through who-knows-what. I have a Super T-10 in a '63 Nova from a Z-28. The day it breaks a T5/T6 will replace it.
Good to have you with us. Others will chime in I'm sure.

That's a great idea Glenn!
A "skip" = a dumpster.... but he says it's proper english??? Oh.. Okay. Most of us can see the dating site pun, "matching" with an arsonist.. But a "SKIP? How is that a box? It must all be...
