75 firebird guage wiring
very specific query
For my 75 firebird oil pressure guage:
Does the guage receive full voltage, and ground through the pressure switch?.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Most gauges receive +12VDC directly (as marked on the gauge "+"), some gauges use a resistor to stabilize voltage and limit current to the gauge. The -12VDC (as marked on the gauge "S") is connected to the sending unit suppling ground to the gauge via resistance.

it should be using a plastic circuit board that the wiring harness is plugged into. I’ve seen the circuit board go bad & the plug to it have broken wires or a bad connection with.Donate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

Your wording is very confusing to me. You say "gauge" but then you ask if it grounds "...through the pressure switch"? That sounds to me like an oil pressure indicating light (aka the "Idiot Light"), not a gauge? If it's a gauge you'll have an oil pressure sending unit, not a pressure switch, right?Roger

Thanks!! I usually do the "NZ Slang" lookup but decided to poke the bear this time! ;):D:p
