We did Spar Varnish once. It only lasted a couple years, we brushed it on.

Had a very, very talented self taught builder nearby who built original copies from the ground up, including a few wood delivery wagons using the techniques Henry Ford's guys used before assembly lines, almost no power tools, no sheet metal brake, just ingenuity. For his exposed wood he told me that he used automotive clear coat, and said he'd found it to be better than any finish made for wood. Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

The first model car I built was a 32 Ford roadster by Revell in the mid 50's.
How did you get hooked on cars?
