71 Nova - Spray Foam in trunk

I've got some sprayed foam in the trunk going down into the fenders. The suff is causing all kinds of grief to get at and deal with the rust. I've had one suggestions of using paint thinnger. Any other ideas?

Is it like the original undercoating type stuff or is it actually a type of hardening foam? If thinner doesn't work with a putty knife I would try heat as long as it doesn't flame up, and then use the putty knife to see if it scrapes off way easier. However....if you use the thinner AND THEN the flame it should cure the whole trunk/rust....car problem entirely!

Some stuff is just downright nasty to try and remove....like some silicones I have experience with. Try some brake cleaner, I find it to be harsher on what I usually try to remove, but carb cleaner could work too....then again those cans can get pretty pricy if you have a lot to do, but I find brake cleaner just about dissolves everything. Could give that a try too.
