IDing a GM rear end
It’s supposedly a late 60’s early 70’s Cutlass rear end. Trying to figure out what it is so I can get brake parts for it without guessing because of all those crack auto parts people we have now.
Can anyone tell me what I have other than a GM rear end??
Here some pictures of the casting numbers I have foundLast edited by TooMany2count; 05-26-2023 at 04:00 PM.

Casting #3917123 is for 1968 Chevelle, 10-Bolt, 8.2” (12-Bolt Casting #3917124). The casting numbers may have either a prefix or suffix of "N" or "NF" they have no significance that I’m aware of. If you can find the numbers on the axle tube, I can get exact stuff, i.e: “XXMMDDP”
XX – ratio and type (standard, posi, metallic brakes, etc. – 47 different possibilities).
MMDD – Month and day of assembly
P – Assembly plant

And I thought the only vehicle specific info for a differential was on the stamped steel tag that's usually lost the first time the nuts are removed from the housing/cover studs!
Glenn, you're the font of GM knowledge!!Roger

Glenn thanks for the info… I’ll see if I can get the other numbers from the tube, if I can find them and if they’re still there..joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE
