I know nothing about Sabbs. I do know however that with a torch, hammer, welder and wrenches there is no combination that is impossible.
I would guess the stock front end would work. Might have to change springs to match the new weight.

Is this a Sabb 9000? I also know nothing about Sabbs cept most of there model names. You may want to look into a ford 302 out of a Mustang, use the rear end, tranny and the engine from the stang, just get a donor stang. The dual sump oil pan would clear the X member. Cooling WILL be a problem with the tight engine compartment but, you should be able to get it to fit.

The soccer moms have all traded their Saabs and Volvos for mini-vans. There's a bunch of them waiting to be rodded.

I love the radical soccer mom look.
