Rust hole in chrome front bumper

My '50 chevy has a rust hole that is about 2.5" and less than 1" wide, how can I fix this besides replacing the bumper?

Cut it out to good steel, weld in a patch, grind it smooth and get the bumper rechromed.

My '50 is a 4dr Fleetline, I'm gonna suicide the rear doors though. The 235 in mine is in good shape, only needs a fuel pump and, there only 23.99 from NAPA auto parts. Shouldn't be nothing to get that old 6 Cyl running, the owner I bought it from said he had it running and, he drove it around ( this was b4 the fuel pump went ).

Tig is always the easiest weld to clean up if you make the peices fit right, but whatever kind of welder you have will work fine.

Thanks, I don't have a tig, all I got is an arc welder but, I could rent 1 if need be.

yep, I got my 3 years all planed out

1st year: get motor running, suicide rear doors, put new exaust in , add some chrome smoothies, do all bodywork then prime and paint ( candyapple red or some kinda deep metalic red ).
2nd year: Order an interior kit from www.rodinteriors.com ( Red and white V8 style, or nifty 50 ), find somtin else to do to it with money left over.
3rd year: Have the painted bumpers chromed, find somthing else to do on it.

Even though I plan to have it compleated in 3 years, it may take a little longer and, even though it would/should be compleated in 3 years, there will always be somthing to do to it.

I'm gonna have to follow Dave's instructions on the rust hole.

    Stickerz are cheep..
I know stickerz are cheap but, I want the car to last and retain a value that would hopefully grow, and I would like to fix the hole cause it's 1 hole and not a swiss cheese bumper.

One more question, the bolt pattern on the car is 5 on 4.75 and, that = 5 on 4 /3/4 so, I could use 4/3/4" bolt pattern aftermarket smoothies and, use those same wheels when/if i decide to change the rear end to a Camero rear end?

The wheels should be interchangeable with Camaro wheels. There's not much chance that you can suicide the rear doors. The shape of the body makes it impossible. You need a straight doorpost to mount the hinges on. Both hinge pins need to be on the same centerline. The upper hinge will have to stick out 3 or 4 inches to line up with the bottom one on your car. You can't move the bottom one in or the door won't open. If you want to do some customizing start with a new grille and a rolled pan. Throw that rusty bumper in the trash.

Now that you got your hot rod it's time to change your avatar. Park the Benz out back.
While you're at it change that thing about the future of tomorrow. It's kind of a mixed metaphor. since tomorrow means the future the way you used it. You're claiming to be the future of the future. It should say the leaders of tomorrow or leaders of the future. You get what I'm saying?

Where can I get a new chrome bumper for a '50 Chevy, I wanted a chrome bumper in the long run NE way, so maby it will all work out. Kinda sucks about suiciding the doors but, it will still look when it's finished.

I got good news, at 7:23 tonight my car arrived at my house on the lowboy so, IT"S FINALLY HERE. We called a towing service because we were having trouble getting a Uhaul trailer. I also found out that the green and plaid seats are just seat covers, the origional grey interior looks in tact and just in need of cleaning, I didn't pull the covers off yet but, from looking through the rips in the front seat cover, they look good.door panals do need to be replaced or heivily cleaned, and the headliner needs replacing. Well, heres a picture, it was late and somewhat dark so, I had to edit the brightness and contrast but, I'll have better pics tomorrow.
